Melissa Rosenberg talks about her "Start"

Twilight fans know Melissa Rosenberg as the screenwriter for all five of the Twilight series films, and she is also well-known for her work on the hit Showtime series Dexter. For some, the name Melissa Rosenberg rings a familiar bell for other reasons: that's also the name of Joan Rivers' daughter and sometimes co-host on awards shows.

Having the same name as the latter, it seems, helped the former open a few doors in a hard-to-break-into industry.

The Wrap has a great discussion with our Rosenberg about that issue.

After having some immediate interest in her scripts after consulting with a colleague, it seems, Rosenberg came to find out they had her confused with the other Melissa Rosenberg.

"Im like, Wow, what did she tell them? This is fantastic! I send them the script, and then I go in to meet with one of them. Everyone in the agency wants to meet with me, and Im going, This is amazing . . . And one of them says, Yeah, we just made a deal with your mother. And Im going, Okay, my mothers been dead 10 years, so you guys are great! As it turned out, they thought I was Joan Rivers daughter, because her name was Melissa Rosenberg also. I had this nepotism going for me without being related to anyone."

As it turns out, this landed her the very first gig she had as a screenwriter, irrespective of the initial name confusion. You can read the full story at The Wrap.
