'Twilight' News Wrap: 'Little Renesmee' Gets 'Breaking Dawn' Notes From Co-Stars

Adding to this morning's other Twilight news are a few items of interest:
The first thing has to do with Jackson Rathbone's Girlfriend. A new, extended trailer for the film was recently unveiled (attached), as well as a plea for assistance from the fandom.

"We want to partner with you to help us get this project across the finish line! Together, if we are successful, you will be able enjoy it in theatres, on demand, and online."

In exchange for contributions, they're giving away various levelled merchandise, up to and including recognition in the credits for the film. You can find out more about that here and here.
Another piece of outside work worth focusing on is Chris Weitz (director of New Moon)'s A Better Life. [Note that until recently, the project was called The Gardener.] Moviefone has debuted a new poster from the film and has included a quote from Chris Weitz about why Twilight fans might want to see the picture . . . despite the fact that it's well outside of the Saga sphere.

"Look, let's be honest: There's not a single vampire, not a werewolf or star-crossed romance in sight. Jose is quite a heartthrob but just doesn't have Jacob's abs. Demian plays an amazing Dad but doesn't have to deal with quite the same issues as Charlie Swan. But if a fan of 'Twilight' came away from watching New Moon with a sense that that movie has been done well by me and my crew, they might be interested in seeing another film that deals with some pretty intense feelings and, frankly, packs a tremendous emotional wallop. I'll put it this way: I bet that Bella would go see 'A Better Life.' I bet she'd make the drive out to Port Angeles. And I bet she'd like it."

There's a lot of truth to that. After hearing about Chris Weitz's selection for New Moon, I checked out About A Boy, and you do get a sense of Weitz as a director. The same is true for David Slade (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's director)'s 30 Days Of Night and Hard Candy . . . and Catherine Hardwicke's Lords Of Dogtown for that matter. Each director has a certain style, so if you enjoyed Chris Weitz's take at all and want to support his work, A Better Life'll give you that opportunity.
And speaking of Twilight directors, Catherine Hardwicke has something to say about her own post-Twilight work. As you know, her movie Red Riding Hood hits theaters on March 11th. You probably also know her name's been attached to a good number of projects since then, but she says she missed out on at least one job thanks to her gender, this year's Academy Award-nominated The Fighter.
She told The Wrap,

"I couldn't get an interview even though my last movie made $400 million . . . I was told it had to be directed by a man -- am I crazy?" said Hardwicke, who also noted she liked what David O. Russell did on the film. "It's about action, it's about boxing, so a man has to direct it ... But they'll let a man direct "Sex in the City" or any girly movie you've ever heard of."

. . . including the following four Twilight sequels. Hmph. More on this can be found at The Frisky. [Also of note: IndieWire reminds us Hardwicke is "the woman with the highest grossing opening weekend box office." Wowza. And a Guinness World Record holder for Twilight's sales at that.]
Moving on then . . . there've been some rumblings about the date for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1's world premiere.

A tweet yesterday purported to report that the premiere would take place on November 15th in Los Angeles. That would be a Tuesday. Both Twilight and New Moon's premieres took place the Monday before release (the 17th and 16th of November respectively), but Eclipse's June premiere date, June 24th, threw a wrench in the Mondays-only premiere tradition. However, historically premiere date and location information isn't distributed until much closer to the release date (inEclipse's case that was almost three months beforehand). So don't book any plane tickets just yet.
Speaking of Breaking Dawn, there've been a few developments in the Little Renesmee(s) department, including some recognition by her The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 co-stars.
For starters, there are now three names which are being thrown around in association with that job. [Note that Renesmee is being portrayed by Mackenzie Foy but that, reportedly, little Renesmee actresses are being used along with CGI imposition for earlier stages.] The three names are Eliza Faria, Rachel St. Gelais, and Sierra Pitkin.
What looks to be a family Twitter page for Rachel St. Gelais has been interacting with fellow Breaking Dawn stars Erik Odom ("Peter") and Valorie Curry ("Charlotte"), meaning at least one Little Renesmee has recently had some time on the set.

RachelStGelais: @valoriecurry you're delightful! Shout out to Toni Trucks too! You're fun! Thank You!
ValorieCurry: @RachelStGelais It was wonderful to meet you, darlin!
RachelStGelais: @erikodom You're so kind! Go Team Peter! Rachel likes you because you remind her of her 12 yr old brother Steven ;-)
ErikOdom: @RachelStGelais She's a total sweetheart...it was great to meet you guys this morning! :D

So, her involvement with the picture is pretty undeniable at this point.
Finally, a friend over at Letters To Twilight participated in a Harry Potter vs. Twilight debate of sorts recently, so be sure to check it out here.
