Hugh Jackman won't be Kristen's Huntsman in 'SWATHM'

Internet rumors had it thatHugh Jackman was being eyed for the male lead opposite Kristen Stewart in "Snow White and the Huntsman," but it never came to pass. Jackman's schedule and salary demands never really made sense for the Universal pic, which also has Charleze Theronattached. So with Jackman officially no longer being considered, it's back to the drawing board for Universal now, and the clock is ticking -- SWATH is scheduled to shoot in August.

Snow White (Stewart), is an incredible beautiful young woman with raven hair, fair skin, and ruby red lips. Snow White's beauty is ultimately its own curse because, when she becomes the fairest in the land, she becomes a threat to her step-mother Ravenna (Theron).

Snow White loves Prince Charmant, a boy of the same age who she was separated from as a teen. Snow White has been forced to live under the hard rules of Ravenna where her only friends were the animals that would come to see her. Snow White's life is turned upside down when Ravenna discovers that Snow White is about to become the fairest.

She's driven from the castle and Eric is sent to kill her. Eric is a huntsman who is haunted by the death of his wife, Sara. He was deeply in love and cannot silence the pain caused by her loss. He drinks heavily and spends his days hunting for the White Wolf that killed Sara.

He is purely mercenary, taking the money Ravenna offers to bring the most beautiful maidens in the land to the castle. However, when Eric discovers that the White Wolf works for Ravenna, he escapes with Snow White to the Dark Forest and begins preparing to get his revenge. 5 actors that should be Kristen's Prince Charm in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'

Kristen Stewart was confirmed as the Snow White character in early March, but there is only one problem: the actor who will play the prince has not yet been chosen. The recording of the movie begins only at the end of the year, but the whim already chosen five cute actors who could very well be the tale of passionate young man (and no, they are not being speculated for the part, ok?).

1. Chace Crawford
Its not find the character Nate, "Gossip Girl," the prince of the most expensive sitcoms? And we think that even with these rosy Bochechinhas the Chace could be the ideal actor to play with Kristen. Do the two go together? Would there's chemistry?

2. Matt Lanter
The cat show "90210" style also makes the little prince. The best? He has a physical breathtaking. If the character of Snow White boyfriend need to happen to take off his shirt, you can be sure that girls will go crazy too!

3. Diego Boneta
A beautiful dark hair onduladinho. If the filmmakers want it to innovate, they must call the charming Diego Boneta to play with Kristen Stewart. With his character in "Pretty Little Liars" Diego v���rias caught the attention of girls and is one of our darlings.

JUST IN: Viggo Mortensen drops out of "Snow White and the Huntsman"

"After several weeks of fruitless negotiations, Viggo Mortensen has left behind the male lead in "Snow White and the Huntsman," Variety's Justin Kroll exclusively reports.

Viggo Mortensen will not take the male lead in ''Snow White and the Huntsman,'' formally ending months of negotiations with Universal.

Pic, which is being produced by Joe Roth and directed by Rupert Sanders, already stars Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron. It was scheduled to start shooting sometime this fall and set for a Dec. 21, 2012, release.

Dropping out of negotiations leaves the door open for Mortensen to take the role of the villain in Warner Bros. ''Superman: Man of Steel,'' which is scheduled to shoot at the same time as ''Huntsman.''

Warner Bros. would not comment, but ''Superman'' director Zack Snyder is reportedly interested in Mortensen

Catherine Hardwicke: Kristen Stewart "Perfect" for Snow White: "She's a Kick-Ass Chick"

Don't mess with Snow White.

Especially if Kristen Stewart is playing her...

As you may have heard, the Twilight starlet is in final negotiations to take on the fairest of them all role in Snow White and the Huntsman.

"I love it," Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke told us last night at the Hollywood premiere of her new flick, Red Riding Hood. "She's going to be a bad ass, learning how to hunt. That is perfect for Kristen!

"She's an athlete," Hardwicke continued. "She's a kick-ass chick. She's going to do good in that."

Charlize Theron is also in final talks for the Rupert Sanders-directed movie to play the Evil Queen along with Viggo Mortensen as the Huntsman, according to Deadline.

As for this new take on Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried, Hardwicke thinks Twi-fans are going to dig her much more grown-up version of the childhood fable. "I hope they like it," she said, adding, "I mean it's sexy, so let's be real."

Hollywood wants Red Riding Hood and Snow White to weave a box office spell

Studios and A-list actors are banking on updated versions of fairytale favourites to explore darker themes about sexuality that will appeal to today's teenage audiences

Prepare for a fairytale invasion. Hollywood movie studios, in their constant quest for remakes and modern spins on old stories, are about to unleash a new wave of film versions of ancient European folktales.

The list includes an updated version of Little Red Riding Hood, two films based on the Snow White story, a movie of the old English fable Jack and the Beanstalk, a 3D Pinocchio, a version of Beauty and the Beastset in modern America called Beastly, and the unusually titled Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.

The recent release of a new Disney cartoon version of the Rapunzel story called Tangled will be followed this weekend by the release ofBeastly, whose monster is a high-school jock magically turned into an ugly freak due to his vanity and arrogance.

But the fairytale revolution will really get into top gear with the debut in the US of Little Red Riding Hood, starring the rising young actress Amanda Seyfried.

Like many of the coming rush of fairytale films, the movie takes the format of an ancient folktale, set in a village in a deep forest menaced by a predatory wolf, and gives it a contemporary feel.

In this case the project is clearly aimed at a teenage audience obsessed with awakening sexuality and the supernatural. Its director is Catherine Hardwicke of the hit vampire movie Twilight. "This Little Red Riding Hoodlooks completely made for the Twilight generation. It looks like it is teenage angst and very pale people," said Professor Jonathan Gray, a popular culture expert at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The new films are attracting some of the biggest names in Hollywood.Jack the Giant Killer, which is to be directed by Bryan Singer, features Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci and Bill Nighy. The Hansel and Gretel film has signed up British actress Gemma Arterton. But perhaps the most anticipated are the twin Snow White films. Snow White and the Huntsmanhas Charlize Theron playing the villainous Queen, while Julia Roberts � still perhaps the biggest female star in Hollywood � has taken the same role in The Brothers Grimm: Snow White. "Julia was our first and only choice to play the Queen. She is an icon, and we know that she will make this role her own," said producer Ryan Kavanaugh.

Nor is it just A-list actors who are being drawn to the genre. One of the main forces behind the new Pinocchio is the top Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, who is famed for his dark, fantastical visions. They may be a world away from the child-friendly film versions of the legend that most people are familiar with, but experts say his role in the new venture is no surprise.

Though previous Hollywood treatments of fairytales, such as the classic 1937 Snow White cartoon, have often been aimed squarely at family audiences, the ancient stories offer a wealth of opportunities to probe much darker themes. Beneath the magical surface of a fairytale, with its castles and princesses, often lurk ideas around sexuality, the dangers of growing up and leaving home, relationships between children and parents, and the threat that adult strangers can pose.

"Fairytales can be quite dark," said Gray. He pointed out that the idea of locking up a pretty princess in a tower � as in the story of Rapunzel � or putting one to sleep with a poisoned apple because she is so beautiful, as in Snow White � can be seen as conservative morality fables about the dangers of young female sexual power.

"There is often a theme about the threat of female sexuality. They can be about imposing rules and limiting sexual power with acceptable boundaries. When Snow White hangs out with men, they turn out to be seven dwarves, and so they are not a sexual threat," he said.

Such themes certainly seem to have helped attract Hardwicke to the Red Riding Hood story. In a recent interview with Newsweek, she said: "Why did she get in bed with the wolf � It represents a dark animal nature which is close to sexuality. In the traditional story, the wolf cross-dresses and lures her into bed. That's pretty kinky right there!"

But there are other reasons behind Hollywood's latest trend. Movie executives, faced with squeezed bottom lines and a US economy still struggling to recover from financial crisis, see fairytales as potential money-spinners. Hollywood history is littered with successful adaptations and the stories are already familiar to moviegoers, which means marketing a film becomes easier and cheaper.

"The entertainment industry's appetite is voracious for content, plots and ideas and these fairytales work. They've been around for ever," said Barry Brummett, a communications professor at the University of Texas, Austin

Two remakes are planned of the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a classic Disney cartoon.

Kristen Stewart the Fairest One of All In 'Snow White and the Huntsman'

As "Twilight" faces its final days, we have the bittersweet experience of watching its stars scatter and find new projects. While Kristen Stewart may not have gotten the big paydays and press releases that her costar Taylor Lautner did, she isn't exactly lacking for high profile projects. According to Deadline, she has finally decided to take another trip into fantasy, and has joined "Snow White and the Huntsman."


"Snow White and the Huntsman" is a new take on the Grimm fairy tale. It starts out the same -- but instead of sending her off to live with dwarves, this huntsman disobeys the queen's orders to kill the Fairest of Them All by teaching Snow how to survive in the forest.


There, our knowledge of the script ends, but we suspect she and the prince might head back to the castle to send the evil queen packing.


Stewart may have played in fantasy before, but she's never gotten to be on the action end of things, so this will be a fun departure for her. She's joined by a good cast, as Charlize Theron plays the queen, and Viggo Mortensen is in negotiations to play the huntsman. (Aragorn is definitely who you want teaching you the ways of the forest!)


Unfortunately, you won't get a glimpse of medieval Stewart until August, when filming is set to begin.

Kristen Stewart Set For �Snow White And The Huntsman�

First, she loomed large as a potential lead� and last month was �in negotations� now it�s pretty much crossing the finish line as Deadline reports that producer Palek Patel has tweeted that the actress is now in �final negotiations� to join �Snow White And The Huntsman.� So yeah, at this point, she�s in the damn film.

Written by Evan Daugherty, the script was high up on the 2010 Black List pages, and this new spin on the popular fairy tale sees the titular huntsman (Viggo Mortensen) being hired by the evil queen (Charlize Theron, no word yet if she�s locked in considering she�s also shooting �Prometheus�) to track down her runaway stepdaughter, the fairest in all the land. When he realizes that the queen intends to kill Snow White, he helps her escape, and the pair go on the run. Apparently, the huntsman and Snow White will be chained together for a good portion of the film, and there is still a handsome prince who will win the fair lady�s heart.

Stewart beat out a number of contenders including Riley Keough, Felicity Jones and Alicia Vikander for the part. �Snow White And The Huntsman� is set to be directed by Rupert Sanders and the film is already slated for juicy holiday release of December 21, 2012
