When it came time to start production on The Twilight Saga: New Moon, producers of the much-anticipated Twilight sequel faced an awkward conundrum. Author Stephenie Meyer, having penned the second chapter of her teen vampire saga before production on the first film began, cast Bella Swans forbidden paramour, Edward Cullen, as essentially a background character in New Moon. Producers of the subsequent sequel knew that the legions of Edward Cullen fans wouldnt stand for a mere cameo from Pattinson in New Moon, so they scrambled to find ways to maximize the screen time of their most precious asset without compromising the integrity of the novels core storyline. Which is why Pattinson is often photographed in slow-motion or depicted as an Obi-Wan Kenobi-like apparition in the latest film.
