Robert Pattinson compares Twilight fame to virus

Twilight: New Moon star Robert Pattinson has likened the vampire series ever-increasing worldwide notoriety to a virus as its exploded so quickly.

Rob spoke out while attending a fan party at Battersea in London to celebrate the release of the Twilight sequel New Moon, which comes out on November 20.

He explained: "We went to Japan earlier on in the year. There wasn't that much of a reaction - but last week when we went again, it suddenly exploded, the same as here.

"I don't know how, it just explodes so quickly. It takes seven months to take hold - it's like a virus."

Rob plays brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the movies, and in New Moon his character comes up against werewolf Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner.

Lautner was also in attendance and surprised by the amazing reaction the cast has received while promoting the latest movie.

He admitted: "I'm stunned - I knew it was going to be good, but this is amazing. The fans in London are surprising me.

"It's amazing to know we have this support behind us. It makes us feel like we're at home."
