Uma Thurman about Rob and 'Bel Ami' with MTV

Throughout the course of his first few years in the business, Robert Pattinson has had a great run with quality leading ladies. During MTV News' recent live interview with the star, he joked that he has a special place in his heart for working with "hot girls."

When MTV News caught up with one of the "hot" women in question, Uma Thurman, she laughed off the compliment and turned the praise back toward her co-star and his impressive work in their upcoming period drama, "Bel Ami."

"Robert Pattinson is, I think, going to be a really serious actor," Thurman said while promoting her new movie "Ceremony." "I think he's incredibly concrete in his presence on the set and obviously is very handsome. [He] is a very nice person and he's sensitive. He's present. ... He's a really good actor."

Thurman went on to say that while a lot of attention is focused on his attractiveness, he was very professional during filming and held his own with all the women who appear in "Bel Ami."

"Yes, he's extremely dashing, like an old-world movie star," Thurman admitted. "[But] he's got a lot of weight to him. I don't think he was knocked down by all the women they threw at him [during the filming of 'Bel Ami'], which I think is probably lucky for him."

Speaking to Pattinson's comments that we might see a lot of his bum in "Bel Ami," Thurman revealed she was not privy to any RPattz nakedness.

"I didn't see his bum once!" she said, laughing. "So I can't tell you about it. I don't know what happened to him with other characters, I have no idea, to tell you the truth," she said, adding that just because she didn't see it, doesn't mean it won't be in the film. "I haven't seen the film cut together, so there may or may not be Robert's bum."

Video: Uma Thurman Talks about 'Bel Ami'

Almost a year ago we posted the first images from Bel Ami. However, since that time, news on the Robert Pattinson film has been rather quiet.

A brief refresher: slated for a 2011 release, Bel Ami follows Georges Duroy (Pattinson), a nineteenth-century French journalist who ascends Paris social ladder through a number of manipulative trists with talented and influential women. The film is based on Guy De Maupassants celebrated 1885 novel and will be helmed by noted theatre directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod. Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas co-star and, to the envy of Twifans the world over, be thoroughly taken advantage of by Pattinson. Thurman will play Duroys central paramour and ladder rung, Madeleine Forestier, while Thomas will play a socialite who is seduced by the suave, power-hungry protagonist.

This morning at the Ceremony press junket, I got to speak to Uma Thurman about who she plays in Bel Ami and has she seen the movie yet. Hit the jump for her comments.

Before getting to the interviewI managed to see an extended promo for Bel Ami at AFM (American Film Market) back in November and thought the movie looked really promising. In fact, I expected a trailer to be released soon after the market ended. However, with no firm release date, I guess they dont want to start promoting.

Robert Pattinson Talks About His Love Scenes With Uma Thurman

Hes one of the steamiest young men in Hollywood, but Robert Pattinson says his new love scenes with Uma Thurman are anything but arousing.
The Twilight stud stars opposite the Pulp Fiction babe in Bel Ami and recently revealed that hes found their sex scenes kind of disturbing.
Pattinson explained, Her character Madeleine kind of uses sex as a sort of weapon and my character thinks like an animal. There are a lot of sex scenes in this film, so Im asking quite a lot of myself, and with lots of different people as well.

Empire talks Bel ami and RPattz (there are those screams again)

Robert Pattinson. Pause, wait for the screams to die down. Yes, R-Pattz (or whatever the heck he's called these days) is continuing his non-Twilight career, starring in romantic comedy / drama Bel Ami. And now the likes of Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci are joining the cast.
Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod are co-directing the film, which is adapted from Guy de Maupassant's story.
Pattinson (there are those screams again) is a lad in 1890s Paris who sleeps his way to wealth and celebrity as he climbs the social ladder from humble beginnings.
Though we're sure Pattinson will be the main draw for a lot of people, Holly Grainger, Philip Glenister and Colm Meaney are also in the cast. Which means - ultra-nerd alert - that two versions of Life On Mars' Gene Hunt will now be in one film (Meaney played him in in the pilot for the US version, before he was unfairly replaced by Harvey Keitel).
But back to Bel Ami: it has just kicked off shooting this week and will be followed around London and Budapest by a gaggle of screaming Team Edward types.

Casting Complete on BEL AMI

Over the last few months, pre-production on Robert Pattinson's Bel Ami has been charging forward as we've covered the casting of Christina Ricci and Uma Thurman / Kristin Scott Thomas. Now that the casting of the major players has been completed, we've been told principal photography on Bel Ami is scheduled to begin February 7 and they'll be filming in London and Budapest. Here's the synopsis:

Bel Ami is the story of Georges Duroy (Robert Pattinson), who travels through 1890s Paris, from cockroach ridden Garretsen to opulent salons, using his wits and powers of seduction to rise from poverty to wealth, from a prostitute's embrace to passionate trysts with wealthy beauties, in a world where politics and media jostle for influence, where power and celebrity sex is an obsession.

Based on the synopsis, I think Pattinson's female fanbase is going to be very happy watching this movie. Hit the jump for more:

The other bit of news we were informed of each actor is exactly who is playing in the film and some more casting info. Here's what we were sent:

Robert Pattinson plays Georges Duroy in this erotically charged story of ambition, power and seduction. Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill) is Madeleine, Kristin Scott Thomas (Nowhere Boy, I've Loved You So Long) is Virginie, Christina Ricci (Monster, The Ice Storm) is Clotilde, Holly Grainger (Scouting Book for Boys) is Suzanne, Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Calendar Girls) is Charles, and Colm Meaney (The Damned United, The Snapper) plays Duroy's adversary, Rousset. The screenplay is written by Rachel Bennette from the novel by Guy de Maupassant, and the film is directed by the influential and innovative Cheek By Jowl directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod.

BEL AMI is produced by Uberto Pasolini (The Full Monty, Machan) with as executive producer Simon Fuller. The director of photography is Hagen Bogdanski (The Young Victoria, The Lives of Others), Attila F. Kovacs (Sunshine, Meeting Venus) is production designer, the costumes are designed by Odile Dicks-Mireaux (An Education, The Constant Gardener), the hair and make-up designer is Jenny Shircore (The Young Victoria, Elizabeth: The Golden Age) and the editor is Masahiro Hirakubo (The Duchess, Trainspotting).

Robert Pattison 'Bel Ami' Sex Scenes Revealed

New details are out about Robert Pattison's new movie, Bel Ami, as the screenplay has leaked and it looks like some of his young fans will not to be allowed in the theater. Pattison will play journalist Georges Duroy from Guy de Maupassant's 19th century novel, who gets ahead by getting in on with powerful women.
Filming will start next month, as will his onscreen love scenes that will go way beyond Twilight and New Moon. Life & Style reports from the script on a sex romp with Christina Ricci's character Clotilde that both characters are "surprised by the intensity of the racy encounter" and "Tender, aching moments pass before George asks Clotilde 'Now?' "...I'm sorry, what were we talking about?
Oh, other sex scenes include a tryst with Umma Thurman which is "quick and efficient while sitting at a desk" and "rough and ravenous with Virgie (Kristin Scott Thomas) on the floor" and "up against a door with a prostitute."
