Just yesterday, the subject of Twilight tourism declining in Forks, Washington came up, and in that instance the issue was about the town's Chamber of Commerce preparing for a drop-off in sales tax revenue thanks to lessened visitation of the area.
In the comments to that post, and via Twitter, Facebook, and e-mail correspondence, a great many readers expressed their disagreement with the concept that Twilight-related tourism is permanently slowing. Between those planning a first or second visit to the town and those who suggest there'll be renewed interest in doing so with the release of the final two films (Breaking Dawn Parts 1 & 2), few were convinced Forks had anything to worry about.
However, as Peninsula Daily News points out, locals in the area have announced the end of the Twilight restaurant and lounge. The owners have a store and tour still in place, but the hang-outs for a lot of Twilight fans on pilgrimage to the real town which inspired the Saga are no more.
The owners did welcome the idea of a newcomer providing this service to the area's vistors.
"It is our biggest hope for Forks, that someone will come forward to further the work we have begun and take advantage of a boost up."
If that doesn't happen, will the loss of these establishments and attractions mean more trouble for Forks' tourism outlook? Or do you believe the town will still thrive irrespective of these changes?
